NFL Week 12 Predictions

NFL Week 12 Predictions

After a horrid week 10, I bounced back this week and finished 9-5. We get 3 games on the plate for Thanksgiving this year. All 3 have some meaning to them, are not the most marquee match-ups in my opinion. Even though Dallas is not going to the playoffs I think they are going to beat and end Carolina's undefeated status. That might sound crazy to some of you but, I firmly believe the Cowboys would have been a top 4 team if Romo wouldn't have got injured. But Carolina is still better your thinking. I would agree to a point, but I think the Cowboys are a threat to their perfect season. They have a better offense with Romo and Bryant, and their defense is alright, ranking in the top 15 of every passing, rushing, and scoring defense. With a team inspired by the return of Tony Romo, I think Dallas can compete with anybody in the NFL. Dallas wins 26-20.

The other two turkey games are pretty unexciting, but worth something. The Eagles have their playoff hopes on the line along with Chip Kelly's job security. The Packers will be playing to stay in the run for home-field advantage come playoff time. I'll take the Packers over the Bears 30-17 and the Eagles over the Lions by TD 30-23.

Minnesota Vikings vs Atlanta Falcons is a big game for both teams. Both are coming off bad losses against playoff bound teams. Both teams need to not let a loss snowball into 2 or 3 losses in a row. Unfortunately, one will have to. Although the game is in Atlanta, the Vikings are the better team and should win. Zimmer has the Vikings 2-0 after a loss, while Atlanta is on 3 game losing streak. Now, the Packers were on a 3 game losing streak when they beat the Vikings handily in Minnesota last week. Even if Julio Jones has a big game, I think AP will have a big bounce back game after only putting up 45 yards last week even if Atlanta is the #1 rush defense. Vikings by a FG 27-24.

I probably shouldn't leave out one of the biggest games of the season between the Patriots and Broncos. The game has lost significant excitement due to Peyton Manning being injured/benched/washed-up whatever you want to call it. Brady on the other hand is on a MVP blaze and has his team perfect. Even if the Patriots lose, which I doubt, the Pats will still hold the #1 seed for the playoffs. Obviously if the records were tied then the Broncos would have the advantage. I don't think Tom Brady and the perfect Patriots are going to lose to a back-up quarterback regardless if the game is played in Denver. I'll take Tom and the Pats over the Broncos by six, 30-24.

Here are my predictions for the rest of week 12:

NFL Playoff Predictions

NFL Playoff Predictions

AFC Playoff Picture and Predictions

Almost 3/4 through the NFL Season, the playoff picture is really starting to form. At the halfway point, I had the Jets and Raiders in as wild card teams. Both have gone 1-3 in their last 4 games, the Raiders lone victory was over the Jets. Both teams are technically still in it because just about every team in the AFC is still "in it," but I don't think either team will make it after their previous performances.

The team I like most to grab a wild card spot is Kansas City. They throttled San Diego, and have won 4 straight including a thumping of the Broncos in Denver. I thought their season was in serious doubt after the major injury to Jamal Charles and losing 5 straight, but they have come back strong and control their own destiny to the playoffs. They won't play an opponent over .500 for the remainder of their schedule as well. I am going to say the Chiefs will be in.

I am afraid to put the Steelers in as the last wild card team even though they are 6-4 right now. They could very easily be 6-8 after their next 4 games. If they can manage to win 1 of their next 4 games, I think they can make the playoffs at 9-7, but if not, I think they will just miss the cut at 8-8. They hold the tie-breaker over the Raiders if they were to tie, but I don't know how it would go against the Bills, Jets or Texans.

That said, I think the Bills will finish 8-8 and miss the playoffs as well. The only way I see them making it in is if they beat Houston and finish 9-7. Their schedule is too hard to analyze if they will make it in or not. As for the Texans, I think they can win their division or go in as the last wild card team. All but one of their remaining games are winnable, besides the Patriots. They play the Colts in Indianapolis one more time and finish with 2 division games against the Titans and at home against the Jags to finish the regular season. My conclusion to all the AFC teams in the hunt is that whoever finishes 9-7 among the teams will be in the playoffs.

The top 3 teams are set. Cincinnati and Denver will play each other to most likely determine who will get the #2 seed. Indianapolis should be able to hold off Houston to win their division, but I wouldn't bet on that especially with a backup QB as their starter for the rest of the season.

NFC Playoff Picture and Predictions

Arizona is getting better and better. I think they will be the hardest team to beat in the NFC. Even though the Panthers are undefeated and Cam Newton is playing like the MVP of the league, it's hard to trust a team that is very banged up. Carolina has a very big test this week in Dallas against a team that has a small chance of making the playoffs and just got their star QB back. I think this the week the Panthers lose their undefeated status. They will still probably be the 1 or 2 seed for the playoffs, but I don't think they will go undefeated.

Like the AFC, the #2 and #3 spot will be up for grabs between the Packers and Cardinals. They play each other in week 16 in AZ. I think that will be one of the best games of the year with home-field advantage rights on the line. This game will almost directly result in home-field advantage when the 2 teams will most likely meet each other again just 3 weeks later. So not only will the winner get a bye in the first round of the playoffs, the loser will have to play an extra wild card game and then be on the road. This game is very important. The Cardinals are looking like the best team in the NFC though, coming off back to back gutsy wins over the Seahawks in Seattle and the 2nd best AFC team, the Bengals. Everyone should be afraid of these guys. They might just make the Super Bowl.

The NFL East automatic-bid is really anybody's at the moment. Just when I thought Philadelphia was going to take a big lead in the division, they lose 2 straight games against two inferior Florida teams that have no business beating them in Philadelphia. You can't make this up. If they lose to the Lions on Thanksgiving, it will be the end of the Chip Kelly era. You can mark my words on that. Heck, I'll even say that if the Eagles miss the playoffs, which is looking like they will as the season goes on, Chip Kelly is done after this season. He will receive an "F" on his science project and get bounced out of the NFL and back in to college football.

With the Eagles taking a back seat to the Giants, New York is in complete control of their playoff hopes. Both teams have tough schedules remaining which will make their week 17 showdown in New York worth all the marbles. Unless by some miracle that Washington or Dallas can take the division, this division will come down to the last game of the year. Washington could take this division as well, but I don't think they will even with their next 2 games being at home against division opponents. The only way that the Cowboys make the playoffs is if they win out, which is nearly impossible.

The NFC wild card race is heating up. With Atlanta losing again, their playoff hopes look in jeopardy as they keep losing. This is bold, but the Saints could knock out the Falcons for the last wild card spot. They have 3 divisional games and 3 non-divisional games that are very winnable. If the Saints can go 5-1 and beat Atlanta in Atlanta in week 17, then they will be in the playoffs. It's no easy task as they play at the red hot Texans this Sunday and host Carolina in 2 weeks, but I think they are capable of it.

The Vikings (7-3) who are right now the 5th seed and hold a wild card spot, have a grueling next 3 games. Their next 3 games are @ +Atlanta Falcons, home against the Seahawks, @ +Arizona Cardinals. Like I said in my previous post, if the Vikings can go 2-2 over the 4 game stretch (including the Green Bay Game) I think they will be a lock as a wild card team. 2 of the games are against the top 2 other teams in position to grab a wild card spot (Atlanta & Seattle). Win those games and you're basically in and will knock the opponents out. Lose them and the hike gets really steep because they will lose a head to head tiebreaker and will be behind in record. The bottom line for the Vikings is that if they win 1/3 of these next 2 games and then beat Chicago and NY, they will make it at 10-6. They could even luck out and get a half-full Packers team in Week 17 if the top 3 seeds are already set and Green Bay has no incentive to play other than pride. Doubtful, but it's plausible. If the Vikings can grab the #5 seed and play the NFC East champion for the first round of the playoffs, I think we could see the Vikings in the second round of the playoffs.

The Seahawks playoff hopes are really in jeopardy after losing to the Cardinals in Seattle. Their next 2 games against the Steelers and on the road against the Vikings will ultimately determine this team's destiny. Win 2 and they are in very good position the make the wild card, lose one and they are done. The final 2 spots are really between MN, Atlanta, and Seattle, maybe New Orleans. Seattle is in the worst position, but has the most least-difficult games in my opinion. Minnesota has the best position but has the hardest remaining schedule. Atlanta is in as of now and doesn't have the hardest schedule, but does play Carolina twice and has been on a down fall. It's hard to tell who will emerge and luckily for us the fans, we will get these 3 teams play each other minus (Atlanta-Seattle).

I guess you can say the Buccaneers have a chance as well considering they are 5-5 and have pulled some wins out of nowhere and have surpassed everyone's expectations. Who knows what could happen with them. I'll bet they watch the playoffs from home though.

Is it crazy to say that the worst division in the NFL, the AFC South will have 2 playoff teams?

With all the above said I will give my playoff seeding.

AFC Playoffs
1. New England Patriots
2. Denver Broncos
3. Cincinnati Bengals
4. Indianapolis Colts
5. Kansas City Chiefs
6. Houston Texans

NFC Playoffs
1. Carolina Panthers
2. Arizona Cardinals
3. Green Bay Packers
4. New York Giants
5. Minnesota Vikings
6. Atlanta Falcons

With the above stated, I think Arizona will beat Green Bay in Arizona for the #2 seed in the NFC and I think Denver will beat Cincinnati in Denver for the #2 seed in the AFC.

I really, really don't want to see the Seattle Seahawks in the #6 spot.

NFL Week 11 Predictions and NFL MVP Rankings

NFL Week 11 Predictions and NFL MVP Rankings

What a weekend of upsets! It started on Saturday with 4/5 of the top 6-10 teams losing in college football and then just after midnight Ronda Rousey got knocked out and lost her champion status to Holly Holm. The upsets continued on into the NFL on Sunday. The last place Lions beat the Packers in Green Bay, which hadn't happened for 25 years. The Broncos got destroyed by the Chiefs in Denver thanks to Peyton Manning's 4 interception day that resulted in a benching. #WATTBA

I couldn't have been more happy about the outcome of the AZ-SEA game. I think everybody finally saw the truth in what kind of team Seattle is. I think ESPN will finally pull their heads out of their butts and not rank them a top 10 team in their power rankings again. The Seahawks reality just hit them; they won't make the playoffs this year. As for the team that beat them, the Cardinals might be the most dangerous team in the NFC. Although Carolina is undefeated, I would take the Cardinals over them. The playoffs might have to go through Carolina, but as we saw last night, AZ can win on the road in a hostile environment.

The Lions beating the Packers in Green Bay, might have been one of the biggest upsets in Packer history. I don't know what's wrong with Rodgers and Green Bay, but they have dropped from NFC Champions favorite to wild card contender in 3 weeks. The Vikings are now in first place in the NFC North division and the two teams play each other on Sunday in Minneapolis. This game I believe will determine the winner of the NFC North. Luckily for the Packers, they have a winnable schedule remaining.  They should go 4-3 at worst and 7-0 at best. They have 3 true tests before the playoffs. 2 games against the smoking hot Vikings and a road game in AZ against if not best team in the NFC. With the Packers playing how they have been as of late, no game is a guaranteed win anymore for them. I hope the Vikings beat them for the division championship, but we can never count out Rodgers to come up with some magic.

The Vikings went 5-0 over the stretch that many thought they needed to go 4-1 or better in order to make a playoff run. Now they face a declining Green Bay team at home. This game couldn't have come at a better time for the Vikings. In all honesty, even with the past of the Packers-Vikings games, I think Minnesota will be favored to win this game. Adrian is playing like his MVP form and the defense is playing great. The Vikings aren't a team that blow teams out with a high powered passing game, they win games by constantly grinding the opponents defense by running the ball down their throat, tiring the defense out. Sunday's game was a perfect example of that when Adrian broke out a 80 yard TD to seal the game, late in the 4th quarter.

My predictions went horribly wrong last week, currently 5-8 pending tonight's game, but I did get all of my top games correct, so I regained a little pride and dignity. Tonight's Monday Night Football game should be a cake walk for the Bengals, but who knows after this weekend of upsets.

MVP Rankings
1. Brady
2. Dalton
3. Palmer
4. Cam
5. Peterson

NFL Week 10 Predictions

NFL Week 10 Predictions

3 games really intrigue me this week.

1. Minnesota Vikings at Oakland Raiders

This will be one of the best games of the week because both teams are surpassing expectations and on the cusp of making the playoffs. Oakland suffered a last minute loss in Pittsburgh, but played extremely well for most of the game. Derek Carr has really stepped up his game as well. He has thrown for 3 or more TDs in his last 3 games and Oakland has scored 34 or more in those games. The flourishing of Oakland's passing game is due in part because of their successful run game, thanks to Latavius Murray. Unfortunately, Murray was knocked out of the Pittsburgh game by a big hit from Mike Mitchell, causing Murray to have concussion like symptoms. If he doesn't play, the Vikings will be able to focus more on the pass game rather the run, allowing the Vikings to put more pressure on Carr. On the other side will be the Minnesota Vikings who have won 4 straight and haven't gave up more than 23 points in any game this season. The Vikings made Todd Gurley work for every yard and held him under 100 yards for the first time since his first game. Linval Joseph was a monster in the Vikings victory over the Rams. He was blowing up the back field and getting a great push for the Vikings D'Line. I expect him to have another big game in Oakland.

Adrian Peterson had another monster game against a top 10 defense, rushing for 125 yards and a TD. He is now leading the league in rushing yards and I expect him to continue to extend that lead next week with Teddy Bridgewater being potentially out or at least coming back from injury. Oakland does have a top 10 rushing defense, but they are the worst passing defense and a bottom 10 team in points allowed. Depending on Bridgewater's status, I think the Vikings will run for over 100 yards and have a field day passing the ball. Without Teddy, I think they will lose this game because Oakland will stack the box, limiting how much damage Adrian can do. I'll take the Vikings with Bridgewater over the Raiders in Oakland 27-20.

2. Arizona Cardinals at Seattle Seahawks

This is easily the game of the week. Can the Cardinals go into Seattle and crush Seattle's playoff dreams or will Seattle beat the Cardinals and save their season? I am going to go against the crowd here and pick the Cardinals to kill Seattle's playoff hopes. Seattle has been so overrated this season, it makes me irate, that ESPN's power rankings always has them in the top 10 because they (the ESPN voters) think this is the team from last year. Newsflash, they aren't. Their 4 wins are all against teams with a combined record of 8-24. Wins against: The Lions, Bears, 49ers, and Cowboys. Their losses are all against team's .500 or better. Yes they have only lost by a score in 3/4 of those games, but at some point they have to realize they aren't as good as we thought they would be. Once again, ESPN has them at #7 in their power rankings. You can't make this up. Seattle does have maybe the best defense in the league, but the Cardinals have a top 5 offense along a top 10 defense. That is the difference among these 2 teams. I'll take the Cardinals by a FG, 26-23.

3. New England Patriots at New York Giants

This game makes my list because of the history between the 2 teams. For some odd reason, Tom Brady has lost twice to the New York Giants in the Super Bowl, both when the Patriots were by far the superior team. With the roll Tom Brady is on right now, I know he has those 2 losses in the back of his head. He won't say anything about them, but he is going to play like he hasn't forgotten who took 2 rings away from him. I realize this is just a regular season game, but if there is one or 2 games that the Pats will lose this year, I'll say this will be the game they might. I don't think it will happen due to the Giants having a sad defense and they are just not as good as the Patriots, but Sunday night's Colts over the Broncos upset proves anything can happen. I'll take the Patriots over the Giants 33-23.

Strange/Bold Prediction/Thought

What if, somehow the NY Giants beat New England, win their division, win the NFC playoffs and face New England for the 3rd time in the Super Bowl? Could you imagine the stories and the mental pressure Belichick and Tom Brady would feel to beat them? That would be one of the craziest scenarios in my lifetime. Very, very doubtful it would ever happen, but the thought of it is very
entertaining.

Andrew Luck is out 2-6 weeks due to a lacerated kidney and abdomen muscle partial tear. The Colts can not afford to lose him right now. They are on the brink of losing their division. Fortunately they have a bye this week and have a very easy schedule remaining. I believe Matt Hasselbeck will be able to win enough games to win the division, allowing for Luck to comeback before the playoffs start. Andrew Luck injury (via ESPN)

NFL Week 9 Predictions

NFL Week 9 Predictions
I went 10-4 for the 4th consecutive week in last weeks picks. The only reason I won't do it again is because there are only 13 games this week.

Here are my picks for week 9:

WEEK AWAY TEAM HOME TEAM MY PICK
9 Browns @Bengals Bengals
Packers @Panthers Packers
Redskins @Patriots Patriots
Titans @Saints Saints
Dolphins @Bills Bills
Rams @Vikings Vikings
Jaguars @Jets Jets
Raiders @Steelers Steelers
Giants @Buccaneers Giants
Falcons @49ers Falcons
Broncos @Colts Broncos
Eagles @Cowboys Eagles
Bears @Chargers Chargers

My Top Games

1. Green Bay Packers at Carolina Panthers

Even after losing badly to the Denver Broncos, the Packers have another road test against the best team, record wise, in the NFC. I went back and forth picking who will win, but I don't think the Packers will lose 2 in a row and after how the Monday Night game ended between Carolina and Indianapolis, I've lost some confidence in Carolina. Hopefully Rodgers can get out of his slump and get the offense back rolling against a very tough Panthers' defense. Packers win 30-23.

2. Denver Broncos at Indianapolis Colts

Before the season, this was lined up to be one of the best games of the year and it still very well could be, but the way the Colts are playing has really downgraded this game. After last weeks' route of the Packers, the Broncos will be coming in hot to Indy, where I think they will give Andrew Luck a nightmare. I could see a crazy upset, but realistically it won't happen. Denver wins 30-16.

3. Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys

The Sunday night game has to be one of the worst in recent history between these 2 teams. Usually both would be top teams in the NFC, but this year they are both struggling due to injuries and inconsistent play. Though it is in Dallas, I think the Eagles will be favored to win since Dallas is still without Romo. I think if the Eagles can win they can win the division before Romo returns. Eagles win 27-20.

NFL Midseason Report

NFL Midseason Report

The Packers, who’s the team I picked to win the NFC, looked absolutely depleted against the Broncos on Sunday Night Football. Aaron Rodgers looked confused and out of sync. I realize most teams can’t go undefeated and every team has a slip up game, but Rodgers and the whole team looked gassed the whole game. Maybe the Denver air got to them. On the other side of the field, Peyton Manning looked like vintage Manning and the Broncos defense looked their best. I realize it’s just one game, but other teams should be taking notes and learning how to contain the Packers’ offense for the rest of the season.

NFC East

Nobody could have predicted the Tony Romo and Dez Bryant injuries, which has directly correlated with their 2-5 record. I would have to believe they would be 5-2 or better if Romo would be playing. That said, they are now last place in the division, but only 2.5 games out of first place. Looking at their schedule, they play Philly at home next week, which if they can pull out a win they will have a very good chance at getting back to .500 by the time Romo can comeback. 2 games are road games against inferior teams (Dolphins and Bucs). If they win those, they will have some momentum when they face Carolina at home. If they lose any of these games, I think their playoff chances will be in serious doubt because even if they go 4-0 over that range, they have to play the Packers in Green Bay.

The Redskins beating the Bucs 2 weeks ago may have saved their season and put them in position to compete for the division crown. Unfortunately, they have probably the toughest next 5 games out of anybody in the league. 2 of the games are on the road against the undefeated Patriots and another against the undefeated Panthers. My guess is that they go 0-5 over the stretch and start looking ahead to the 2016 NFL Draft. Maybe they can spoil one of the other NFC East’s teams’ playoff hope by taking one on the road in week 16 or 17 when they play the Eagles and then Cowboys.

The Giants lost an absolute shootout of a game against the Saints, where there were 14 combined touchdowns and Eli Manning threw for 6 TDs. In no way that is good defense, but at least we know their offense is clicking. Looking forward, the Giants are in for a tough road to get to the playoffs. Before the season began, I didn’t think the Giants would be very good and I’m sticking to that, predicting they will finish 8-8 at best.

The Eagles are still very inconsistent. I thought they finally figured it out after beating the New Orleans Saints pretty handedly and rolling the Giants, but then they got handled by the Panthers, so it’s hard to tell where this team really is. Fortunately for them, their division is wide open and I actually think they have the best shot of winning the division as does FiveThirtyEight (FiveThirtyEight Playoff Predictions), an ESPN stats affiliate. They will have a big test in Dallas this Sunday, even though Dallas is still without Romo. If they can win that, they will have 3 games in a row against sub .500 teams leading up to their death sentence in New England. After they lose to New England, they will have 4 very tough games to make the playoffs, including a Week 17 match up at the Giants, which will most likely be a winner takes all game. I predict they will win the division at 9-7.

NFC South

I was very wrong about this division. Instead of having a team with a losing record win the division like last year, this year, 3 teams will be battling for the crown, probably resulting in the 2nd place team being a wild card team. The Panthers keep rolling people with their #1 rushing offense and their top 5 defense. The Falcons have surprised everyone and have dominated some teams with their high powered offense and their much improved defense. The Falcons are looking a little shaky after losing 2 of their last 3 and only scoring 10 in their win over the horrific Tennessee Titans. I’m not quite sure what is wrong with them right now, but they better figure it out before they get passed up by the flaming hot Saints.

The Saints have come out of nowhere. Since getting thrashed by the Eagles, the Saints have rattled off 3 wins in a row, defeating 3 potential playoff teams and scoring an average of 36.667 points per game over that span. The Saints can catch up and pass the Falcons with wins in their next 3 games. If they play how they have been as of recent, I think they can win the next 3 games, resulting in a 6 game win streak coming into their match up with Carolina at home. 2 of those games are on the road where they are 0-3, but they play the Redskins and Texans, both inferior teams. The Saints have probably the easiest schedule remaining in the entire league, facing 6/8 of their last games against teams under .500. Saints at Falcons, Week 17 will be for the last wild card spot.

The Bucs pulled off a huge upset in Atlanta, deterring Atlanta’s playoff hopes. I would have to say the Bucs having 2 divisional wins against playoff contenders has to be a good sign for their future. Though their defense is maybe the worst in the whole NFL, and they have had some bad losses, Jameis’ progression and the teams’ competitiveness has to be a positive for a franchise in rebuilding mode. I think they will only win 1 maybe 2 more games this season, but their first half of the season is definitely a moral victory for the future.

NFC North

This division has turned into a 2 team race with one team way ahead of the pack, but the other catching fire. Those teams are the Packers and Vikings respectively. I already mentioned the Packers’ blunder of a game on Sunday night, but that is just a small pit stop. No need to worry about them, the Packers will still win the division and earn a first round playoff bye. The team catching up, the Vikings, have got everybody’s attention. The Vikings are 5-2, and have reeled off 3 wins in a row since coming off their bye week. Their next 2 games are must wins if they want to make the playoffs and compete with Green Bay for the division title. Both games will be serious challenges, but certainly winnable games. After those 2 games, we get the first Vikings-Packers showdown at TFC Bank Stadium. Not saying the Vikings will win, but I think this will be their best chance since 12/30/2012, when the Vikings beat the Pack 37-34 in Minneapolis. Can you imagine the Vikings pulling the upset and stealing the division? No, I can’t either, but it would be pretty amazing. I do still believe the Vikings will be the 6th a final wild card team, knocking out the NFC West 2nd place team. The Vikings-Seahawks game in MN will be a very important game. Vikings finish 10-6.

As for the Packers, they are still in the driver’s seat of the entire NFC. I don’t think the Panthers will be able to sustain perfectness, which will allow Green Bay to hang on to the #1 seed for the playoffs. The Packers do have a relatively easy remaining schedule. I can only see them losing 2-3 more games at most, so the worst they will finish is 12-4, but I think they will finish 13-3 and earn the #1 seed.

The bottom feeders of the NFC North are the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions. The Bears surprisingly have surpassed my expectations and have 3 wins already. Though 2 have been against 2 of the worst teams in the league, they have been competitive and close to winning most games, only losing by a field goal in their last 2 games. I suspect they will lose their next 4 as well, leading to lean towards losing more games to get a better draft pick rather than trying to win for no reason besides team morale. Week 17 against the Detroit Lions will probably be for the #1 draft pick so I think it might be a game of who can lose the worst.

Speaking of the Lions, they are looking as bad as they were when they went 0-16. OK, maybe not that bad, but seriously they suck. Matt Stafford is playing awful and their defense looks seriously lost without Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley. I hope they can get the #1 pick the draft.

NFC West

I don’t think anybody could have guessed the Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl loss hangover would last so long. They must have took notes from their division rival San Fran on how to not play after you lose a Super Bowl. The Seahawks have 4 wins against the 4 worst teams in the NFL and that is the only reason they are still in the division chase. They have lost 4th quarter leads to two undefeated teams, the Bengals and Panthers. After their bye, they play the Cardinals at home on Sunday Night Football. This will be a true test of who the real leader of the division is. If AZ wins in Seattle, I think we can make them the winner of the division and kiss the playoffs goodbye for the Seahawks. But if Seattle can win on Sunday and get their season rolling, I am fairly confident they can roll into AZ in Week 17 for the division championship. Besides the Cardinals and Vikings, they should win every game, which would put them at least at 9-7 or better. I can’t say if this will happen or not but this is what I believe will happen.

The Cardinals are pulling wins out of nowhere when they played a horrible first half and then have a great comeback win against the Browns in Cleveland. They’re 6-2 with two huge challenges ahead of them right in a row. Both AZ and Seattle will be on their bye week before they face each other in two Sundays. I think the bye will favor the Seahawks, but I won’t underestimate the talent of the Cardinals. They are the real deal if they beat Seattle in Seattle. If they lose they will have a tough schedule a head of them to keep their division lead.

The Rams have been doing exactly how I thought they would be. They are in the hunt for the division and could be a wild card team, though I think they will fall short due to their tough schedule. I won’t count them out yet, but they do have 5 road games that will be tough to pull out wins.

The 49ers have finally fallen all the way to the bottom. There was a little light after their surprising opening game victory over the playoff bound Vikings. Since then, we have seen about zero glimpse of hope for this team. I thought they might resurge after their competitive battle with the Giants a few weeks ago, where Kaepernick looked like his once unstoppable form, but he quickly fell back into a hopeless story. From here, the 49ers need to look at their needs and look forward to the draft. Their Week 16 match-up will be for drafting rights, so they might want to lose that one. Their schedule only gets worse from here on out, so I seriously believe they will finish with 3, maybe 4 wins at best.

AFC East

The Patriots as predicted, own this division. They are 3-0 within their division and 7-0 overall. Tom Brady is playing his best football since the 2007 season where the team went 16-0, but lost the Super Bowl. This year’s team is on the same track. There are only 2-3 games I think they could lose, but don’t think they will. I see the Pats finishing 15-1 due to one bad performance, but other than that, I see the Pats making a serious run at repeating.

The other 3 teams in the division all have had their own wild seasons. I thought the Bills were going to be better than they have, especially after their down to final minute finish against New England in Week 2. Since that loss, they are 2-3, the wins against their division foe, the Miami Dolphins and the Tennessee Titans. They lost to the Jaguars as well. I think the Bills were over hyped and we are seeing what they really are and that is average. Luckily they aren’t out of the playoffs yet and they don’t have the hardest schedule in front of them, but I wouldn’t count on them to make the playoffs.

The Miami Dolphins have made their season interesting. After losing 3 of their first 4 games, they fired their coach and won 2 in a row with new coach Dan Campbell. Now those 2 wins were against 2 of the worst teams in the league, but still 2 wins to boost the team morale. Until they got blown out on national TV, I think they realized their last 2 games were a mirage of their season. Like the Bills, I don’t think the Dolphins are making the playoffs.

The Jets have exceeded my expectations. I think they have played pretty well besides their loss to the Raiders last Sunday. That loss will come back to haunt them when they are trying to make the last wild card spot. Their defense has been superb in all of their wins and awful in their losses. If they are serious about making the playoffs, they will have to be more consistent. They also have a QB situation that is heating up with Fitzpatrick hurting his hand last week, Geno Smith is going to have to step up his game. I do like the Jets chances of getting the last wild card spot, due to their fairly easy schedule and the fact that the 2 wild card spots are very up for grabs.

AFC South

This division is so bad that the leader is below .500. It’s sad to think that the Colts are going to host a playoff game even if they finish 8-8 and way below what everyone thought they would do this year. The Colts are going to make the playoffs and then play the Patriots in New England again, where they will get smashed. I am very disappointed in Andrew Luck’s performance this season, injured or not. They are so lucky they play in the worst division in football. I think they will finish 8-8 and win the division.

The Texans, who are atrocious, are tied for first place in their division, but the Colts own the tie-breaker. The Jaguars have a chance as well. That is so sad and I think the NFL should re-think their playoff seeding if this keeps happening. Mediocre teams shouldn’t make the playoffs.

AFC North

I couldn’t have been more wrong about the Cincinnati Bengals. They are proving everybody wrong that doubt them. Andy Dalton is playing like an MVP candidate and the Bengals are undefeated, including beating the Steelers and Seahawks with 4th quarter comebacks. They are 2nd in my book to the Patriots due to them having to comeback, but that doesn’t take away from them being undefeated. I have to change my original prediction of them missing the playoffs to the Bengals finally getting out of the first round.

The Steelers playoff hopes went from good to bad, to good, to awful. They lose Big Ben, causing them to lose a few games and then get him back sooner than expected. Just when you think they are going to be back, they lose Le’veon Bell and the game to the Bengals in Pittsburgh. Before the season I thought they would win their division, now their playoff chances are slim. I still think they can be a wild card team, but they have a tough schedule in front of them. I think they’ll go 8-8 and miss the playoffs.

You look at the Browns and didn’t expect them to be good and they are not, but I don’t think anybody would have thought the Ravens would be just as bad. Both are 2-6 and both 3rd and 4th worst scoring defenses in the AFC. The Ravens have been in every game, all of their losses have been by 8 points or less. That’s a tough break, but they need to be able to finish games. The Browns on the other hand, look hopeless, especially losing to the Cardinals at home with a big lead. Their Johnny Manziel situation is ugly as well. Apparently Manziel will be starting vs the Bengals this week, so we are in for a treat on Thursday Night Football. Probably not the best game to start Manziel.

AFC West

After 6 weeks of Peyton Manning and their offense being non-existent, the Broncos picked the right game to get back to the Denver offense we know. Manning looked like vintage Manning vs the Packers and their defense, which has been the best in the NFL, played outstanding. They held Aaron Rodgers, who has been playing like he was going to be the MVP again, to 77 yards. That is not a typo. I think the Broncos are still behind the Patriots in completeness and consistency, but if they can keep their offense rolling, they will be in the AFC Championship against the Patriots. The Broncos play the Patriots in Denver during Week 12. I’m sure everybody will have their TVs on for this game. The Broncos also host the Bengals in Week 16, which will probably have home field advantage rights on the line.

The biggest surprise in the division and probably the entire league has to be the success of the Oakland Raiders. They are 4-3 and just destroyed the top ranked Jets defense, scoring 34 points. I think if they can win 5 more games they could make the last playoff spot, but let’s remember this is the Raiders we are talking about, so I’ll wait for them to prove themselves before I put them in the playoffs. (5 Reason Why Oakland is Playoff Bound by ESPN)

After suffering a devastating loss, losing Jamal Charles, it looked like the Chiefs’ season was over. Fortunately they play in the AFC where the wild card spots are still very up for grabs. Their beat down of Detroit in London, might be just what this team needed to get their season back on track to potentially make a run to the playoffs. Both their offense and defense are fairly average which keeps them in games. Their schedule ahead has 5 divisional games left, which will really prove if they are a playoff team or in for a long off-season. I think they’ll lose their next 2 on the road against Denver and San Diego, crushing their playoff hopes. Chiefs finish 6-10.

Statistically the Chargers offense and Phillip Rivers are doing great, but their defense is horrendous and they have so many injuries. Their offensive line is extremely hurt resulting in them having one of the worst run games in the league, though New England and Denver are similar, respectively Denver and New England have much better defenses. Their schedule is actually not tough for the remainder of the season, besides their 2 meetings with Denver. I think they will win a few more games, but no playoffs for Rivers and his 8 kids.

NFL Week 8 Predictions

NFL Week 8 Predictions

Last week was my 3rd consecutive week finishing 10-4 with my picks. This next week doesn't get any easier. The game of the week has to be the showdown of unbeatens in Denver. The Packers will take on the Broncos, both coming off bye weeks. Green Bay is a 3 point favorite and I have them as the winner as well. Both have outstanding defenses, but one offense is superb, while the other is turning the ball over more than scoring touchdowns. I have to give the advantage to Green Bay, despite the home field advantage. I'll take the Packers over the Broncos 27-23.

2015-16 NBA Season Preview and Predictions

NBA Season Preview and Predictions

As always, there were a number of big time player personnel changes and signings this off-season. Due to the small amount of players on each team, each signing can significantly change each team's season outcome. I will disregard some obvious signings that are technically free agent signings, but re-signing was so obvious that I won't consider it a big change (Tim Duncan, Kevin Love, and LeBron). I will start with the Western Conference, then analyze the Eastern Conference, and finally predict the NBA Playoffs, Finals, and MVP.

WESTERN CONFERENCE

The biggest signing this off-season has to be the San Antonio Spurs signing LaMarcus Aldridge. This move affected the whole NBA. The Spurs are now the favorite to win the title and respectably should be. With the old core 3 of Duncan, Parker, and Ginobili staying around for another year, add that to one of the best both way players in Kawhi Leonard, and now add a Top 5, offensively dominant, proven PF, you have yourself a top team without mentioning their bench. Now to talk about their bench, they signed another huge free agent, David West. Though he is past his prime, West is still a very good player, that can give a team a 20-10 night every once and a while, but can also lead a strong second unit when Duncan and LA head for the bench. Though past his prime as well, picking up Rasual Butler was a nice pick up that could come in handy in some situations.

I only have a few concerns for this team. One has to be age of their regulars; their core 3, Diaw, and now West. Obviously Popovich will be limiting their minutes and using them strategically, but last year we saw Parker be hampered by a hamstring injury that brought a lot of concern to their season and longevity. Another concern is how they will mesh now with LA. He's use to getting the ball almost every possession and firing up a high volume of shots in Portland, where he was the man. I'm sure David West will fit in great, especially knowing that he took a pay-cut just to be on the team. That is serious sacrifice and dedication to be on a legitimate title contender. My last concern for the Spurs is their lack of a true center. Losing Tiago Splitter will have some type of effect. As I look at their roster, they have 4 centers listed (Matt Bonner & Boris Diaw are listed as Center-Forwards). All 4 don't even have a picture nor can I pronounce their name. I'm not saying it's a big deal, especially with the league merging into a center-less league, using small, faster line-ups, but it might cut into Tim Duncan's bench time, meaning Duncan would have to play more mins due to a lack of true center with NBA experience. Just a thought. Besides those few concerns, the Spurs will most likely finish in the top 4 of the Western Conference and make a push to the NBA Finals come playoff time, where I believe they will knock Golden State off their throne and represent the West in the NBA Finals.

The Golden State Warriors had a phenomenal season last year. 67 wins is very impressive. I think they will have the best record in the NBA for the regular season, finishing with 60 or more again. Though they will be crowned with the best record, they won't be crowned the Western Conference champs. It's very hard to repeat championships, especially when your team doesn't make many moves in the off-season. The old mantra "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" comes to mind here. To me, I don't think they had to do anything because they are the champs and their team is still one of best teams in the league. Luckily for them, their young guys are only getting better, including the MVP Steph Curry and Klay Thompson. My concern though is that their competition did go fishing to try and beat them. Most noticeably the Spurs and Clippers, who re-signed and brought in veterans that can play.

Next in line are the LA Clippers. Every year since the Clippers signed Chris Paul, we knew they were going to make the playoffs, but nobody thinks they will win the title. They have arguably the best PG in the league with Chris Paul, a top 3 PF in Blake Griffin, a freakishly athletic, defensive stopper center in DeAndre Jordan, and a very well rounded supporting cast, you still get a team that will make the playoffs, but not win the title. Don't get me wrong, the Clippers are a legitimate threat to win the title this year and have the talent to do it, they just crack under pressure and can't get over the hump. I think re-signing Jordan was huge for their team. He is a very valuable player to have on the team, I wouldn't pay a max contract for him, but then again without him, the Clippers defense would be horrific. They also signed "The Truth" Paul Pierce from Washington. They nabbed Josh Smith from the Rockets for the veteran's minimum, smart move in my opinion and if it means anything they also signed Lance Stephenson for some SG/SF depth with the departure of Matt Barnes to Memphis.

In my opinion, those are the top 3 teams in the Western Conference, but the west is so stacked, 1-6 could move drastically. The 3-6 slots are the hardest to predict because we can't really know where everyone will end up until all the games are played and sometimes like we saw last year, the entire playoff seeding switched every day for the last month of the season.  That being said, I think the OKC Thunder will end up in this range. With Kevin Durant back and hopefully in the mix for MVP, the Thunder will be legitimate title contenders again. As for Westbrook, WOW! That man had an incredible season, despite being injured at the start of the season and losing his best teammate. Westbrook made the most out of KD's absence by leading the league in scoring, and notching triple-doubles left and right. Now with the duo healthy, let's watch them get back to the best 1-2 duo in the league. I think they will finish 3-5 in the regular season, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were #2 and knocked Golden State out in the NBA Playoffs.

The Houston Rockets pulled off a huge comeback by defeating the Clippers in last year's playoffs, but I'm afraid they won't have near the same success as they did last post season. I think James Harden will have another MVP like season, maybe even win it, but his team lacks depth and that is what hurt them down the line. Bringing in Ty Lawson was a huge grab, though risky with his past, he can provide them with great speed and relief to Patrick Beverly. I like Sam Dekker, I think he has a small chance at being a Chandler Parsons replacement, but he will have to prove that. I won't leave Dwight Howard out because the bottom line of this team is how far James Harden and Dwight Howard can carry them. With how stacked the west is again, I don't see them getting out of the first round of the playoffs this season.

The Memphis Grizzlies did a few things right this off-season, but not enough things right. Signing Matt Barnes and Brendan Wright are great pick-ups, but not getting any shooters when your team literally is the worst 3 point shooting team in the league seems foolish. Memphis still relies on old school, pound it inside basketball. It works for them, but with the league morphing into a high volume of 3 pointers per game game-plan, Memphis will be left in the dust aka the first round of the playoffs.

Last two spots are very tricky. It's very hard to tell who will snag these two spots. I think the 6 above are locks to make the playoffs, but the order is TBD. I'm almost certain we will get to see Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans again this post season. Last season was just a preview of what this young man will be doing for the next 15 years. Davis has risen so fast and so high in the NBA ranks, people forget he is going into his 4th year and is only 22 years old. The kid is a monster and will be the next KG/Duncan combination, dominant big man that apparently has been working on his 3 point game. Watch out kids. I would like to see him get his assists up this year because right now he sits at a career 1.6 assists per game and a 1.08 AST/TO ratio...Not good. When he starts making his teams look better, than he will take the next step into greatness. As for his team, they aren't too shabby. They have a good interior and some guards that can play. Signing Cole was a good pick up as well. I expect them to make the playoffs.

The last team I am going to pick to get into the playoffs this year is the Utah Jazz. This may be a bold pick, leaving out the Phoenix Suns and Dallas Mavericks, but the Jazz have a young, talented core, led by Gordon Hayward and Trey Burke. I really like their draft pick Trey Lyles. I think he has the potential to be a Carlos Boozer, Paul Millsap type. Not coincidental that both those players also played for the Jazz, it just seems like Lyles could be a PF that can knock down the mid-range with ease and be a good rebounder for 10+ years in the league. One other kid that I like on this team is their defensive anchor, Rudy Gobert. Though he got hammered on by MN's Andrew Wiggins, Gobert is not afraid to challenge anyone at the rim. With him in the middle they can go above .500 and round out the NBA Playoffs for the 8th seed.

The first team left at home watching the playoffs will be the Phoenix Suns. Yes, they are on the come up with Eric Bledsoe and Brandon Knight, but splitting up the Morris twins was a mistake in my book. I might be a little biased due to my love for the Jayhawks, but I think these two together bring more good than bad to a team. I expect another year of being in the hunt for the 8th spot, but just not making the cut.

The Dallas Mavericks are in a worst state of mind than a 16 year old girl going through her first break-up. Losing DeAndre Jordan after getting him, had to be soul crushing. With him they would have maybe signed some other players to make a run at a championship, but now without him, they won't even make the playoffs. My favorite player before LeBron, Dirk Nowitzki is a legend and always will be, but his time has come to retire. He would still work people in pro-ams, but he is such a liability on defense that his offensive production does not cut it anymore. Not only that, they lost Tyson Chandler, Monta Ellis, and Rajon Rondo. They lost 3 starters and missed out on the DJ. Not a good off-season for the shark Mr. Mark Cuban. To give them a little help, they signed Wes Matthews, who will be coming off an injury and they signed Deron Williams. Deron Williams is not the Deron Williams of his Utah Jazz days, let's just make that clear.

The next 4 teams are nowhere close to making the playoffs, but have good, young talent, that could be in the playoffs in a few seasons. The Trail Blazers, much like the Mavericks, lost just about their whole starting line-up. Lillard will be their only legitimate star. He will be very frustrated after 2 season of success and now heading backwards. The bright side for them is that they can only go up because you can't get much lower.

Sacramento is an interesting case. They have an MVP like center in Boogie Cousins, a once Top 5 PG with Rajon Rondo, who they got from the Mavs, and Rudy Gay, who is a proven scorer, but usually doesn't help a team win. Last year they started off hot as a fire and then fell off the wagon as a team and organization. I can't see playoffs this year, but I can see some personnel changes. I guess we will have to see if Willie Cauley-Stein pans out and makes the Kings' Kentucky front court a force on both sides of the court.

The next two teams have the top 2 draft picks. The MN Timberwolves drafted Karl-Anthony Towns and the Lakers took D'Angelo Russel. Both the right picks in my opinion. I personally met KAT this fall and I was impressed with how intelligent and smooth he was. Now that is nothing to do with his basketball abilities, but I think his intelligence sticks out on the court. D'Angelo on the other hand is a flashy player that can bring star power. I think both will be stars in years to come, but I think KAT will be the Rookie of the Year.

For the Timberwolves, they did exactly what they needed to do in drafting Towns. He will be the next Anthony Davis. The kid will be a monster in 3 years. Alongside Andrew Wiggins, the reigning Rookie of the year, the Puppies will have a dynamic duo for the next 10+ years, barring they stick together. If Ricky Rubio can stay healthy for once and KG can mold KAT into a defensive monster that Garnett had been for his whole career, I think Towns can be the new KG of Minnesota and the Wolves can make the playoffs within 2 years. They aren't near the playoffs this year, but they are taking the right steps and progression to getting there. They still need a full-time coach as well.

The BLACK MAMBA is BACK. The NBA is a better place when Kobe can play. I have always admired and respected Kobe and I will always keep him behind Jordan, but Kobe is the closest thing to Jordan for our generation. I think LeBron is more talented than Kobe, but Kobe will stay in front of LeBron in terms of greatness as long as he has more rings the LBJ. I don't think Kobe will retire this season, but I think he should. The Lakers are clearly moving in another direction, but Kobe is hampering the process. He has earned the right to stay on as long as he wants, but with the Lakers in the position they are in, need to part ways and move on to making D'Angelo Russel their star. The Lakers missed out huge again in free agency, which is no surprise because nobody wants to play on a bad team.

Lastly, the Denver Nuggets. I like their pick Mudiay because I think he will fit right in after the departure of Ty Lawson. Being on a bad team with little to no face of the franchise, Mudiay can become the face and star if he pans out. He will have the help of veteran PG Jameer Nelson to show him the ropes and Danilo Gallinari to pass to for 3's, but this team is just a team that would be great at open gym, but horrible when structure is needed. Mike Malone is a good hire, but the Nuggets are in for a long season.

EASTERN CONFERENCE

Why does the east struggle so much compared to the west? Is it because the talent is not dense enough to cover 30 teams? Is it because of salary caps? Weather? I don't know, but clearly something is wrong when the 6-8th seeds were .500 or worse. Knowing this, the Cleveland Cavaliers have a much easier route through the NBA playoffs than any western team. Like last season, when the Cavs only lost 2 post season games prior to the NBA Finals, they will have a similar route this year, maybe by getting challenged more against Chicago and Atlanta again. Without a doubt, the Cavs will be representing the East in the NBA Finals again unless LeBron goes out with an injury. I have read some things, saying he will watch his minutes this year to be less worn when the playoffs come this year. With that, it won't be likely he will be the MVP of this season, but that doesn't motivate him anymore. Rings do, and if he has to sacrifice a regular season MVP award he most certainly will. I still be believe the Cavs would have won the finals if Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving did not get injured. Much like LeBron's 3rd season in Miami, I think the Cavs are going to cruise through the NBA regular season, barring injury, earning the #1 or #2 seed for the playoffs and return to the NBA Finals again, hungry to win a title.

I think the 2nd best team in the East is up for grabs between the Bulls, Hawks, and Toronto Raptors. I left the Miami Heat out of the top 4 because I think they are being way over hyped and will have to prove they are a top team in the east. Just because Chris Bosh is back doesn't make them a top 3 team. Both Bosh and Wade are injury prone and aging. Dragic is a good PG, but not elite. Hassan Whiteside is a defensive stopper, but still needs an offensive game. They are #5 in my book in the east until they prove they are elite.

The Atlanta Hawks will be good again. Despite losing DeMarre Carroll to the Toronto Raptors, I think the Hawks will take the #1 or #2 seed again, competing for the top spot with the Cavs. With losing Carroll, they picked up the experience center Tiago Splitter and retained Paul Millsap. I don't think they will beat the Cavs in the playoffs, but I think they can easily earn the #1 or #2 seed for the playoffs.

The Chicago Bulls' success will forever rest on the shoulders of Derrick Rose. Even with Jimmy Butler becoming a superstar, Rose is their golden ticket. Seeing reports that the two (Rose and Butler) have had leadership conflict is not good for a squad. Those two together can be nightmares to cover. I do hope Rose gets back to his MVP form, but I will have to stay skeptical until he can stay on the floor. Hiring Fred Hoiberg is another important piece of the puzzle. I'm not sure the Bulls will stay the same hard-nosed, defensive team they had been with Tom Thibodeau at the lead, now with a new coach.

The Toronto Raptors made a big move signing DeMarre Carroll. He may not be a superstar, but he is a very valuable and versatile player. I expect him to fit right it with DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry, who has been tearing it up this pre-season. I expect another big year from the Raptors and hopefully a first round series victory that they have longed-for.

The 6-8 seeds will be extremely hard to predict because so many of these teams are right on the brink of making the playoffs. I want to say the Washington Wizards and Milwaukee Bucks are locks to make the playoffs, but I can't say for sure. The Wiz lost Paul Pierce, which he may be old, but he did win them a playoff game last year and was a huge part of their success. The team is John Wall's now, and not that I think they won't make the playoffs, I just think the teams I've listed before them are better.

As for the Milwaukee Bucks, they will be fun to watch. With Jabari Parker back after injury and the acquisition of Greg Monroe from the Pistons, they have a serious starting line-up. My concern for them is that they have no shooters and they play more like an AAU team. They will be exciting, but they won't be making it past the first round.

The last team that makes into the Eastern Conference Playoffs will be the Indiana Pacers over Boston, Detroit, Charlotte, Brooklyn, and the Knicks. All 5 could very well be the 7th or 8th seed as we saw last season, how the end of the season finish was crazy to get the last spots. Paul George being back, signing Monta Ellis, and shipping Roy Hibbert to the LA Lakers are all good moves in the right direction. Unfortunately they lost David West to the Spurs, so there goes their front court, but they drafted Myles Turner to hopefully space the floor out rather than West and Hibbert clogging up the lane down low.

The Boston Celtics were the 7th seed last year. Unfortunately, I think they didn't make enough moves to get back to the playoffs this year. Like all these on the bubble teams, they could very well make it, but I doubt it. Good thing for them is that they are gearing up for the future with draft picks and young player.

The Detroit Pistons, much like the Celtics are right on the brink for a playoff spot. Getting Reggie Jackson and drafting Stanley Johnson were great moves. Stanley will be a stud in years to come. Andre Drummond is also an important part to this Detroit core. Too bad they had to part ways with Greg Monroe, but that will open up room for Drummond and others to progress.

The New York Knicks are going to have another losing season. Although I like their move to sign Robin Lopez and Aaron Afflalo, they won't be enough for Carmelo to lead the Knicks back to the post-season. Drafting Kristaps Porzingis might be the biggest gamble of the entire draft, but maybe Phil Jackson and Derek Fisher can see something we can't. Bust in 3 years is my opinion on Porzingis. Shoutout to Derrick Williams, the once #2 draft pick by the MN T-Wolves, for landing $10 million. Proud of you D-Will.

Buzz City! At least they have cool jerseys. The Charlotte Hornets drafting Frank Kaminsky would not have been my first choice with the talent available. They did sign Nicolas Batum, and received Spencer Hawes. Batum will give them some value and Hawes will give them some flow in the hair department. Dumping Lance Stephenson was a blessing as well. They didn't really do anything wrong, but they still aren't ready for the playoffs.

The good thing about the Nets is that they are partially owned by Jay-Z. Cool. They lost their best-player Deron Williams, even if Williams is washed up now. They also lost some of their key role players such as Alan Anderson and Mirza Teletovic. Good role players are hard to come by and even harder when your team is going down the gutter. RIP the Brooklyn Nets season.

Things can't really get much worse for the bottom 2 teams. The Orlando Magic, much like the MN Timberwolves are loaded with young talent like Tabias Harris, Elfrid Payton, Aaron Gordon, Nikola Vucevic, Victor Oladipo and top draft choice Mario Hezonja. I definitely approve of Hezonja. Watching his highlights and summer league, the guy is the real deal compared to his European counterpart Porzingis. Give this team a few years and they will be in the playoffs.

Last and very least the Philadelphia 76ers. They know they are the worst team and are so on purpose. They are loading up for the future. Acquiring many draft picks, hoping to draft a superstar in the next few drafts to get their franchise back to a winning franchise. As for this year, Joel Embiid is hurt again, getting him closer to the label ''bust'' before he even plays and one of the worst picks. I'm not sure how they are going to work Nerlens Noels and Jahlil Okafor on the court at the same time. At least this team knows their future rather than thinking they are going to be in the playoffs.

The MVP of the 2015-2016 Season will be Kevin Durant. He is hungry to get back to his #2 player in the world position especially after last year. I don't see why he wont be the player we know him as. As well as the MVP, he will be the scoring champ. I would love to see OKC knock off the Golden State Warriors in the playoffs and face the San Antonio Spurs for the Western Conference Finals.

PLAYOFF PREDICTION

1. Golden State Warriors
2. San Antonio Spurs
3. Los Angeles Clippers

Cleveland Cavaliers are NBA Champions

NBA opening night is Tuesday October 27th. We start the TNT double-header with the Chicago Bulls taking on the Cleveland Cavaliers in Chicago. After that battle, we get the defending champions, Golden State Warriors, hosting the up-and-coming New Orleans Pelicans with Anthony Davis. There is also a 3rd game on NBA TV between the Atlanta Hawks and Detroit Pistons. As always, the NBA Season is exciting and must watch TV. Will there be a new champion? I think so, but we will have to watch to find out.
