Week 2 Recap

Week 2 Recap and Thoughts

Of the 5 games I was able to watch because like petite Randy Moss, I have cable, my home team Vikings game and the Thursday night game were the most entertaining.

I think we can all agree, Sunday's Vikings played how we all thought they would play against the 49ers last week. Teddy looked great, our defense was stellar, and most of all AP was AP and the Vikings got him the ball like they should have in week 1. Sadly, AP never got into the endzone, making fantasy owners cry, but they can't be too sad considering he ran for 134 yards and caught and ran for another 58 yards, totaling for 192 all purpose yards. It felt great getting the win column and get on the right track towards making it to the playoffs. Besides AP's fumbles he played pretty flawless. I believe the Viking's offense has found their recipe for success. On the other side of the ball, the defense did well. Getting a sack and forcing a few turnovers is exactly what they are capable of each week. I need to give credit to Xavier Rhodes. He did a heck of a job on Calvin Johnson. Johnson caught 10 passes for 83 yards and had 1 touchdown. He was targeted 17 times. Rhodes held Johnson way below what he is capable of doing and for that, he earned a lot of respect.

The Thursday night game may have been the best, most dramatic game of the season thus far. I gave the Broncos a chance to tie it up and send it into overtime, but to win and take the lead with under 2 minutes was incredible, Denver has grinded out 2 gutsy wins, which has to make them confident they can play better than they have and start dominating some games.

The Philadelphia Eagles vs Dallas Cowboys game was a snooze fest. I nearly fell asleep this game was so boring. I'm very fearful for the Eagles after this loss. They had less than 20 yards rushing and their offense was non-existent. I thought Chip Kelly's offense was unstoppable... So far this season it has been a dud. I don't think the Eagles will even make the playoffs after watching their last 2 games. The Cowboys won the tough game with tough defense. Unfortunately they lost Romo for at least 8 weeks and are now without their 2 best players, and have Brandon Weeden as their starting QB. Yikes!

Staying in the NFC East, the Giants blew another double digit 4th quarter lead and are quickly becoming a joke. I can't say I didn't see their season being a disaster from the beginning, but who knows, maybe they will make the playoffs at 9-7 and make a Super Bowl run like the past. Also, the Redskins beat the Rams, who had just beat the Seahawks. Who would have thunk it??

A few very bad losses around that league that surprised me and probably surprised the teams that loss.
Jaguars beat the Dolphins, Raiders beat the Ravens, and Tampa beat the Saints in the Super Dome.

Been a weird start to the 2015 season and that's why games are played on the field and not on paper.

Last night's Sunday Night Football game between the Packers and Seahawks may have been a preview of the NFC Championship. Even though the Seahawks lost this game, there is no doubt they will bounce back and win their division. They have their first home game against the struggling Bears which will boast their confidence and get them on the winning track. The Rams losing to the Redskins and the 49ers getting thrashed by Pittsburgh, should in no way hurt their confidence in starting down 0-2. Their biggest competition will be Arizona who looked very good vs a weak Chicago Bears team that allowed 48 points. The Cardinals are now 2-0 and have 2 straigh home divisional games. Depending on how those games go ( I predict 2 wins) the Cardinals will have a 4-0 record compared to the Seahawks who will be 2-2 after beating two NFC North teams, Detroit and Chicago. I think the division winner will all be decided on week 17 when the Cardinals and Seahawks face off in AZ.

Tonight's Monday Night Football game is a big one for both teams. The Jets got a big Week 1 win to give them confidence they can win tonight. The Colts need to win this after getting pounded by Buffalo last week. This one will be a good one, that comes down to the wire. I'll take the Colts 27-19.

As for my predictions, I did not do so well. A lot of upsets happened in my opinion and the toss up games didn't go my way. Pending tonight's game I was 7-8, so hopefully I can break-even with an Indianapolis win tonight.
