Week 3 Recap
Week 3 seemed to have a lot more chalk wins than Week 2 where I didn't even get half of my picks right. As of now I am 10-5, with my 5 losses in games that were close and could have gone either way. The loss I'm actually fine with was the Eagles beating the Jets. This has to be a huge relief to the Eagles organization.I honestly thought they were going to start 0-3 and rethink their whole season. With Romo being out for awhile the Eagles will be able to catch up and get back in the driver's seat of their division.
The biggest surprise has to be the Atlanta Falcons. They are 3-0 under new head coach Dan Quinn and they have a legitimate chance at hosting a playoff game at the end of the season. Now Carolina is undefeated as well, but the Falcons look hot. I did say I wouldn't be surprised if they were playing for the division title at the end of the year, but I didn't think they would start this hot. I still believe Carolina will out grind them for the division crown, but they are getting everybody's attention.
The Arizona Cardinals being 3-0 is impressive, but not as impressive as the Falcons due to the competition they have faced. They have beat the Saints, Bears, and the 49ers, who are combined 1-8. Those 3 teams might be in the race for the #1 pick as I can't see any of them winning more than 5 games. The Saints might lose every game until they play the Titans. The Bears might lose every game until they face another horrible team, the 49ers in Week 13. The battle of the losers. Both teams at that point might try lose so they have the advantage getting the #1 pick. Back to the Cardinals, they might take the NFC West now that Seattle started down 0-2, now 1-2 after dismantling the Bears. I believe the Cardinals will start losing some games further into the season and we have to watch the health of Carson Palmer. He may be the biggest factor in the success of this team. I believe the Cardinals have won 9 straight games with him as the starting QB.
Like I said in my season preview "the health of Ben Roethlisberger is always an issue." Here we are in Week 3 and Big Ben goes out for 4-6 weeks with a knee sprain. This is going to seriously hinder the Steelers' season. With Roethlisberger, they looked like they might take the title of the division. Now they will be lucky to make the playoffs, depending on when Roethlisberger returns. This may be the Raven's chance to get back into the division race after losing a 4th quarter lead at home to the Bengals who are now 3-0 and look like the second best team in the AFC behind the Patriots. I wouldn't be surprised if the Ravens get their first win on Thursday in Pittsburgh.
Undefeated Teams | Winless Teams |
Patriots | Ravens |
Bengals | Bears |
Broncos | Lions |
Cardinals | Saints |
Panthers | |
Falcons | |
Packers |
Of the undefeated teams, the New England Patriots look unstoppable right now and look like they will be going back to the Super Bowl. We will have to wait to see if the Packers can stay undefeated, which I believe they will after their match up with the Chiefs tonight. The Panthers are looking well and I think they will win the division over the also undefeated Falcons.
